New arrival

It's hard to think that just a week ago I was nervously anticipating the birth of my baby daughter. Rebekah came into this world at 12.53pm on Wednesday 15th April. Amazing that the 3rd stage of labour was all of 2 minutes. It was 13 hours for Oliver, and when you count the 1st and 2nd stages, it accounted for a few days.

Anyway back to Rebekah. Here she is....looking so very perfect. And very much smaller than we expected, at only 8lb 6oz (3.8kg). So she is now making use of newborn clothes that only reached Oliver's tummy button, which shows how much bigger he must have been.

We've been home since Saturday, Rebekah is such an easy, sweet baby, and I'm recovering very well from the surgery. An elective c-section has certainly been a very positive birth experience for me. And I am glad I took some music for theatre, to take my mind off the spinal (the thing I was most worried about). Thank you Take That.

And this afternoon between feeds, I'm making use of some wool Mum passed my way, to make a hat for Rebekah, as it's still a little on the cool side here.
Thanks for all your lovely comments directly or via my Mum. I'll be back again soon.

Beautiful pictures! It is so fun to see the family resemblance. Oliver, you and your mom all have the same smile. It is a little hard to hard to tell on baby Rebekah ;)

I am so glad you have had a safe and timely delivery.

Enjoy these next six weeks, you already know how fast that newborn stage goes. I am anxiously awaiting my 2nd granddaughter. Meg is 36 weeks, but we are expecting baby Avey soon. Eden was born at 38 weeks and we are hoping Avey stays put till at least 37 weeks.

It has been fun sharing similar life moments with your mother. Blessing to all of you!

Hi Janie

So glad all went went and you now have your beautiful little girl to cuddle.

Funny, I too, was thinking that Oliver has inherited your mouth. Be interesting to see who Rebekah favours as she gets older.

Hope Oliver is enamoured with his baby sister & we get to see you sometime.

Love, Cousin Pam xx

Raced over from your mother's blog and phew! In time to see this lovely picture of you with your adorable children.

How happy I am to read that all is going well and that you have been safely carried through. Rebekah looks like the sweetest little love.

Now take good care and do all the relaxing that's possible! Take everyone up on their offers, too. ;> Wish I could pop a casserole over myself.

Janie,

I received a sweet email from your Mom announcing the birth of Rebekah...she is indeed a little doll...a beautiful baby.

I'm sure Oliver is the ideal 'big brother'...he looks so happy in the picture.

I'm so glad that everything went well with the birth and that God showers down his richest blessings on your family...

Your Mom is a lovely lady and I count it a privilege to know her via blogging.
